Religious People Care... About People Who Are Like Them.

It's funny how the Christian Right will say that if you don't believe in "god," then you have no morals. They are loving and caring for all of humanity...except for when you have a different life than what they believe you should have.

As an Atheist, I find that the Christian Right and everyone else who thinks that way are scum. The worst kind of person. I find that Atheists are more caring and loving of everybody -- not just the people that don't scare them. It might have to do with actually knowing that we only have one life and wanting to live it well. Or maybe we are just flat out smarter than those rednecks.

Here is the article that got this rant started:

After the whole Maine debacle, it fired me up even more.

How dare you think you should dictate what others should do with their lives and how they should live? You should be ashamed of yourselves. We are all the same species here! They deserve their rights for being human too.

Now, I know that not all religious people think this way, but come on! You are just a scumbag if you want to keep rights from hard working Americans, just because they were born being attracted to the same sex, or their brains say they are male and their body is female (or vise versa). How is that your say? Last time I checked America believed in separation of church and state. So why doesn't the LGBT community have rights? Can someone give an intellectual answer back please?

I am just sick of this intolerance.

VFF and my Foot Update

Well as is turns out, thanks to Al from livingbarefoot.info, that I was just jumping the gun.

I gave myself only a few days of walking before going out to run. I thought since I walked around barefoot around the house, and did so for most of my life, everything would be just fine. Whoops.

Al also brought up the idea that I might have bruised my bone. In hindsight that makes perfect sense. I am 95% sure that I did just that.

One last tip that Al gave me was to try and actually run barefoot and to see if, just in case, it is the VFF's. I really hope that is not the issue since I really love wearing these things. Grrr!!

I would also like to thank @vfffriday from twitter for responding to my tweet!!

In conclusion, it looks like I will be walking in them as much as possible for the next two weeks and hopefully start running for short spurts in the meantime.

Halloween!!!

Bossy Bear and I just got back from the Greene Turtle and we had a blast. She didn't win the sexiest costume contest, but it kind of matters if you brought other people with you besides me to win. 8^) It would have been nice to win the $100 dollar prize though. I new I should have entered. Darnnit!!

Here are some pics from that night. Enjoy. 8^)

Happy Halloween everybody!!!

Update on my Vibram Five Fingers.

Well, another week has gone by and I am still loving VFF's! I didn't get to run too much, but I did get to run for two miles non-stop on Friday. This past Monday I ran for one mile non-stop. So definitely an improvement!!

I am only having one problem right now. After about a mile, I start getting a dull pain in my left foot.

I thought I was running correctly. I checked all the sites and videos online I could find, but it just keeps coming back. If any of you reading have any thoughts please leave a comment.

But overall, even though I am having this pain, I will keep at it!! I really want to do a 5k run some time soon. 8^)

Oh, here is a picture of my cat Tito and my VFF's. Enjoy.

Vibram Five Fingers!!

I bought these about a week and a half ago. I do have to say that it was the best purchase on shoes ever!!

The reason I bought them was after reading "Born to run" by Christopher McDougall, I was really intrigued about barefoot running. The problem was that I am too much of a wimp to actually try to run barefoot. Luckily in the book there are references to minimalist footwear. Vibram Five Fingers happen to be the most extreme and the most recemended by, seems like, everybody on the internet.

For a long time (about two months) I was really nervous about this. But after searching around the internet and finding a lot of websites about barefoot running, such as http://www.livingbarefoot.info/, http://barefootted.com/, and http://birthdayshoes.com/, I just had to try them out. Luckily for me I had a store called City Sports that had them in the store and I could try them on. I am really glad I did because I didn't measure my feet correctly and would have ordered a size to small. That would have sucked.

Now that I have them, I find it hard not to wear them all the time. They really are the most comfortable shoe I have ever worn. They just feel like a glove, but for the feet. They may not be the best looking shoes ever, but it is fun getting those stares from people around you. I wore them home on the metro and MARC train and it was great!

I have only ran in them for a week now, but I plan to do a lot more. I am hoping I can get up to the point where I can run a 5k. Hopefully beyond that. So I will be updating the blog every now and then on my progress.

I used to be athletic when I was younger (soccer, tennis, skateboarding), but got out of it when I started driving. Right now I can only run about a mile. So it is a start. I don't want to push myself too hard since it really is a different type of running. So there are a lot, and I mean a lot, of muscles that haven't been used in a long time.

Well, here is to me being athletic again! 8^)
